Network Relays
In Althea networks there are two types of relays:
- Primary Relays – these relays make up the backbone of the network, typically installed on tall buildings and / or businesses that utilize high performance point-to-point (PtP) radios or an array of high end point-to-multi-point (PtmP) sector antennas.
- Sub Relays – smaller relays that are installed primarily as residential locations that have use inexpensive short-range point-to-point links or small sector antennas.
Primary Relays
As primary relays make up the backbone connections of the network traversing long distances or connect larger number of customers via multiple sector antennas the radios used should typically be of the airFiber or higher-end airMax line.

Sub-Relays
As sub-relays are more for connecting one customer to other customers over short distances or immediately surrounding them in their neighborhood the less expensive airMax line is suitable.
